Fused glass flowers on steel structure. 114 cm x 50cm wide. Weights 7 kilos. No matter the weather or season this flower continues to give colour and happiness to any garden.
I was inspired by the orange and yellow glass and made the petals and leaves and fired them in the kiln to fuse the different aspects together. It evolved from there.
When I started I just thought that I wanted a huge colourful flower, so once the petals and leaves were made I then came up with the idea of making a steel stand to attach the petals/leave to. The steel stand is made from a mixture of recycled and new steel. I welded the individual pieces together and then sprayed it black so that it would blend into the background. But I have thought since that the steel itself is a feature of its own and am now going to make steel structures without glass to put in the garden and have plants grow around them.
